Our story

Why I built this

I'm a first-generation immigrant, an aerospace professional, and since January 2026, a first-time dad to a baby girl. Parenthood has been harder than I expected: the short nights, the long days, the constant learning. It's also given me more joy than I knew was possible. A tough day still ends with her, and that changes everything.

With a growing family, we started looking for ways to make our money go further. I've been into credit card rewards for years, and friends and family often ask me which card to use where. So I decided to turn what I know into an app anyone can use.

Finding time wasn't easy. This app was built in small pieces: on breaks at work, while doing the dishes, after the baby finally fell asleep. I'm not a professional developer, and a few years ago, this wouldn't have been possible for someone like me. AI changed that. It helped me design, code and research every step of the way.

What I do bring is my day job. In aerospace quality, "close enough" doesn't fly. So every rate in the app is checked against the bank's own website and shows when it was last verified.

This app isn't perfect, and I know it. If you see a mistake or have an idea, I'd truly love to hear it. Advice and honest feedback are always welcome. Like life, it's a work in progress, and I'll keep making it better.

About the name

TapRight is made by Thousand Moons. Our daughter is Selena, and her Chinese name, 千月, means "a thousand moons." A thousand full moons is roughly a lifetime. Thousand Moons is named for her.

How the app makes money

Finding the right card is free and always will be. If you apply for a card through the app, I may earn a commission from the bank, but that never changes the rankings. In the future, if the app saves you money, you'll also be able to leave a tip.
